Ten designers have tried to design new school desks for Haiti. These can be built on site and thus help the local economy. They are in wood, easy to built and cost nothing. The action has been promoted by HISPANIOLA Design per solidarietà. See more info about this here.
"Simple, flexible and fun. The wooden desks and benches are made without the use of any special techniques or tools, so children themselves can have fun putting them together. Endless combinations are possible: individual, rows, islands, L- or U-shaped arrangements. Catharina Lorenz founded design studio Lorenz * Kaz together with Steffen Kaz in Milan in 2001.They work for clients like Antonio Lupi, Bedont, Colé, DePadova, DuPont, General Motors-Cadillac, Omnidecor, Rossin, Zeitraum.
Apart from working for other clients, they launched their own furniture line, which they produce and sell under the label Lorenz * Kaz.
Stefan Kaz is also a professor at the University of Bolzano, teaching at the Faculty of Art and Design.
