FRAGMENTED cabinet - version 0113. Feb2012
Designed by Francesca Lanzavecchia from Lanzavecchia&Wai, the 'Fragmented' cabinet version 01 and version 02 are "An archetypical and stoic storage furniture is broken down into three mobile volumes that nest into each other. Solid panels are replaced by bands of flexible fabric not only as a textural pleated surface treatment but also pragmatically; the storage volume can be accessed from all sides and through any point."
Materials used to construct the cabinets were steel and lycra.

"Being mobile, the individual cabinets can be deployed to where it is needed in the domestic landscape or re-arranged as a group, providing the most desired configuration."---
"Using the cabinet becomes a tactile experience of feeling for the opening and stretching apart the pleated surface."---
"The pleats also hide where the openings are and they all form an uniform floating mass of colour when closed."---
Fragmented cabinets version 01 were the winners at the Wonder Design Award, RIMA Editrice Young e Design 2011.---
