Matsumoto pediatric dental clinic28. Dec2011
Opened in Tokyo this year in August, Matsumoto pediatric dental clinic has an unique design to welcome and make children feel at home and play.
Naoki Terada's architecture office designed a playful solution for this project utilizing wooden animals on 1/1 scale that welcome children when they arrive to the dentist, hoping that this will help them to have a relaxed visit.
The furniture includes several wooden games into its design and is placed into the waiting room walls to keep children busy while waiting for their appointment.

The clinic layout is configured so that the animals and trees can be viewed from the examination rooms and the children feel at ease. By doing this, while the child receives treatment he can keep eye contact with his mother which waits for him in the visitor's room which in fact is the playground. Thus the entire space transforms into a fun space, without the fear that can be felt in a hospital.
