The 'Noorderparkbar'06. Jun2012
The Noorderparkbar is designed and built by Trespassers W and bureau SLA The bar is both a coffee bar and a local gathering place opened this year on 16th of March.
"The Noorderkamer organizes events for and by the districts in Amsterdam North. They do this with great success. A great desire is to have an additional pavilion with a small catering function. In order to minimize construction costs, the Noorderparkbar was built from mobile units and second-hand equipment. The old material receive a second life in a new hotspot in Amsterdam!" - Bureau SLA
You can see the step by step evolution of this park booth here and also some videos here.
Bureau SLA is a young architect from Amsterdam, founded by Peter van Assche in 2001. The work of bureau SLA varies in size and scale: a regional vision for an island of 2400 hectares to the design of a 6 m2 large bathroom. In between are including designs for cultural and historical monuments, construction of day care for the mentally handicapped, social housing, a museum, interiors, art, skate park, bridges, urban plans and begraafplaats.Hoe the scale, size and budget may be, any project is characterized by an open approach to the wishes and desires of our clients. We do not believe in standard oplossingen.Het result is fresh and inspiring designs that are durable and remarkably fun in complex issues. A building is better when it communicates with its environment. A master plan should be based on how people will live, work and relax. Every project of bureau SLA is an expression of integration at these levels: urban planning, landscape and architecture (SLA). Each building is well built environment.Photo and text from Bureau SLA website.
