The Thread Wrapping Furniture Collection17. Nov2012
When someone finds new ways to work with materials it worth respect. When that person think and create a machine especially to apply his idea and to create new unique objects as a result of combination of materials, then that person worths a bow.
Anton Alvares is that person and you are invited to see his unique works and the method he used to create it. The resulting objects can be considered pretty much furniture as they work and represent functional objects.
Pieces of wood (recycled or new) are held together by multiple threads bathed in adhesive.

The Thread Wrapping Machine is a tool to join different types of material with only a glue-coated thread to bond it. No screws ore nails are used to join the different components of the furniture’s. By using this construction method materials such as wood, steel, ore plastic can be joined to form objects and spaces. Here you can see a movie about the Thread Machine.

"I wanted to create an externalised joint that would enable me to combine a big range of different materials that normally would require very time consuming methods of jointing them together. At the same time a decorative pattern appears with the different colours of the thread."---
