Vienna Design Week 2011 - Lounge Cube08. Jan2012
In the summer of 2011 three architecture students at the Technical University Vienna attended a course held by Günter Pichler and Marc Wallerberger at the Department for Spatial and Sustainable Design to design cardboard lounge furniture. The works of Carlos Ferreira Mayerle, Maximilian Lehr-Splawinski and Alexander Masching have been displayed as part of the Vienna Design Week 2011 at the Zumtobel Lichtforum within Ecolucy - paper lighting objects exhibition.
"LoungeCube is a foldable cardboard furniture generating different seats by just opening different parts of it. It is designed to offer seating for up to three people. The form is based on a cube cut three times in 45°. Folded the LoungeCube is a cube of 70 cm length. Opened to the maximum it takes 110x110 cm of space. The material of the LoungeCube are three layered wave cardboards with 1,2 cm depth and three cardboard cores as hinges." - Alexander Masching
