Vienna Design Week 2011 - Paper Lighting07. Jan2012
In the summer semester of 2011, twelve students started SUDECO (Sustainable Design and Communication Strategies) module of the Department for Spatial and Sustainable Design. With sustainability in mind, the idea was to design lighting objects from one material alone; and paper was the choice. Under the label 'Ecolucy', lighting objects were developed with the goal of uniting paper, light, sustainability and design.
Speaking about sustainability, the Paper Lighting exibition has been accompanied by a few pieces of furniture made out entirely of cardboard. Look for more details about cardboard furniture in the next three days on DDJ.
The assignment for the new designers was to discover hidden qualities in discarded items and then to turn them into something useful.
