"Woodhide Geometries" shoes collection21. Nov2013

Tineke Gysel is part of the new wave of a talented footwear designers who emerges in the last year. The evolution of technology allowed new types of materials to appear and also enabled the actual materials to be used in ways and in places where no one could think of until now.
The collection was shown at DDW13 during the exhibition "Watch Our Steps".
The shoes are made of laser cut bamboo on leather, an ecological material that is used more and more in fashion and interior.

In this boot I chose for bamboo, a hip, contemporary and ecological product. Bamboo is embraced more and more in the world of designers, because of the increasing environmental awareness. Bamboo gives modern designs not only a luxury but also a natural look and is becoming more fashionable.
The flexible and thin leather under the wood creates a playful and interesting effect: when the tube collapses, the geometrical motif is accented beautifully. By gradually fading the large pattern into a smaller pattern, the shape of the foot can be followed around the last. The caramel color of the bamboo creates a lengthening effect of the leg and fits well with the energetic mandarin orange (a detail incorporated in the heel and inside).
